What do you think about the idea of having named output buffers?
Example:
ob_start('buffer1');
...
...
ob_start('buffer2');
...
ob_get_contents('buffer1');
...
ob_get_contents('buffer2');
ob_end_clean('buffer1');
ob_end_clean('buffer2');
