This could be related to having the directory PEAR and
creating a tool called pear in the same directory.
Mac OS X's cp seems to have issues with case sensitivity.
sandbox% mkdir ASD
sandbox% touch asd
sandbox% cp asd foo
cp: asd is a directory (not copied).
