It seems that MCRYPT_API_VERSION is the only really reliable
way to confirm if it really is 2.2 over 2.4
Or rather, 2.4 is easy enough to detect, by checking for the
mcrypt_module_open, but 2.2 doesn't really have a unique function
only in 2.2 that 2.4 would have.
How about using AC_EGREP_HEADER to look for MCRYPT_API_VERSION
and seeing what it is set to? 2.4 will be > 20000101 and 2.2
will be less. Of course, this doesn't account for future versions,
but we've got no real way of knowing when this API change will
occur ...
