Last night, Shane Caraveo pointed me to a couple of Microsoft knowledgebase
articles on debugging ISAPI. I've already tried all methods mentioned in the
articles barring one, without any success.
The final method (documented in the Option pack 4 documentation at
iishelp/iis/htm/sdk/eadg82gk.htm) describes a method of configuring IIS so
that it no longer run as a service, however, I'm falling over at the first
hurdle.
One of the instructions is to use DCOMCNFG to configure the iisadmin service
to run as the user who will be doing the debugging (in my case,
administrator), however when I tell it to run as that user (by selecting
from the users popup dialog, or by typing in mydomain\administrator),
DCOMCNFG complains that the 'account name is invalid or does not exist'. I
have already set user rights as instructed so that administrator can
Log on as Service, Act as part of the operating system and Generate security
audits, as instructed in the IIS documentation.
Has anybody been here before? If so, clues would be gratefully received.
Cheers
PS
Shane, I tried to reply to you to thank you last night, but the messages
bounced back with the message 'all relevant MX records point to non-existent
hosts'
