Hmm I don't think anyone realized because Sascha didn't stop the release
and fix those function prototypes. Oh well. And it wasn't announced on php-dev.
The "it" is ambiguous. If you are referring to the 4.0.4
release, it was announced a full day before the release.
Well usually when we release a new version we send an email with the highlights to php-dev, php-general, php-announce and update the front page of php.net. Maybe because toye was down but I kind of missed the "I'm posting the .tar.gz in a few minutes scream if there's a problem" kind of Email which we usually do.
How about putting the 4.0.4 NEWS section on the downloads page so that for a change people will be able to see what's new where they download? (It will hopefully make more people read it and prevent them from getting bitten by changes).Huh? There are plenty of changes people should know about when downloading the new release. As I said a couple of months ago it would be a good idea to put a "What's changed" link which would go to the 4.0.3->4.0.3 NEWS section. I still think it should go there but I'm on a terrible link and about to go to sleep so I can't do it. If no one feel like doing it (5 minutes of work) I'll do it myself tomorrow. Andi --- Andi Gutmans <andi@zend.com> http://www.zend.com/What exactly is in there which would "bite" users? If there is anything central, it should not be buried deep inside the ChangeLog file together with hundreds of other entries. Instead, it should be put at a location where everybody will read it (considering the number of people who succeed in ignoring big *** WARNINGs ***, I'm not sure that such a place exists at all).
