Well, it is your job to read and try to make sense of the emails you receive. I cannot do that for you. In fact, last week's message was that, if nothing bad happens, the release will happen at the beginning of this week. The message was repeated one day before the actual release. Those people who come now out of the woods have really no point in bemoaning that they needed a heads-up before the release (I'll make sure to call you next time). If there is anything of importance with regard to the release, you should inform the one handling the release _immediately_ and not wait until the last second. > In addition (already mentioned), I think 1) the tarball 2) website and > 3) win32 builds should be prepared before releasing too The tarball was there, the ChangeLog entry was there, the Download section was prepared, bugs.php.net was updated. Oh yeah, the front-page took a tad longer. Big point, if you consider that the announcement email contained only direct references to the ChangeLog and to the Download section. And now let's get over it. The main improvement in this release process was that we applied a much stronger Release Candidate Cycle than we ever did before. As far as I can judge the overall response up to now, it paid out well. Thanks and congratulations to the QA team for doing an amazing job. - Sascha
