I'm not sure what you mean by client side, but I guess it could be used
to create an internal representation of an XML/HTML within a browser.
My intention is rather to supply a php3 function which takes an
XML/HTML document and returns a tree representation according to DOM.
You get a very powerful tool to access certain parts within an XML/HTML
document. This way php3 could be used to grab pieces of information
from several documents in the web and combine them into a new page.
I'm just not sure wether php3 can handle the whole DOM specification.
It is very much object oriented and describes a bunch of classes
like Dokument, Element, Node, .... which are likely to be nested.
