Whoa! Never thougth about that?! Sure, but a version number if quite arbitrary and the way we have always done this is to consider the second digit for large changes. The fact that we haven't had a .1 yet is not really relevant. I don't see why you are making such a big deal out of a version number. > Or is that number in the middle reserved for something special? Licensing issues and such. The main day-to-day thing done by group@php.net is sys-admin stuff like keeping all the *.php.net machines and services working, managing cvs accounts, etc. Lots of grunt work. All relevant development discussion is done on php-dev. Occasionally we will discuss development stuff internally, but that is more because we know each other well and want to bounce ideas off of each other before we make idiots of ourselves on php-dev. It is not some elite high-and-mighty group that make arbitrary decisions. It is simply a small group of core PHP people who have been involved with PHP development for a long time. -Rasmus
