I agree. It's been my experience that it easier to simply roll your
own installer than bother with InstallShield if you have to do
anything at all tricky, or want to be able to share the installer
in a meaningful way (ie. the InstallShield "projects" or whatever
they call them are binary, as I recall, and have hard-coded paths).
There are other install packages that have struck me as more
impressive, even though InstallShield seems to be "industry-standard."
I don't recall the reasoning, but the reason Shane went back to
just a ZIP file instead of the installer he was using is that really
isn't that much that needs to be done by the installer, and people
are usually better off doing it by hand so that they know what they
heck they've done.
