Status: Open
Bug Type: Reproducible crash
Operating System: Windows ME (kernel 4.9.3000)
PHP Version: 4.0.6
New Comment:

Reproduced with Windows 2000 Professional, PHP-4.0.6 and Apache 1.3.20 (running PHP as an Apache
module).

A simple script:
<?php
echo c:\crashtest.exe;
?>
If you run PHP from te commandline, the following output IS generated:
Warning: Unable to execute 'c:\crashtest.exe' in crashtest.php on line 2

Changing the backslash to \\ or / has no effect.

On Linux (tested with Debian, Potato), trying to execute a non-existant file produces no output, and
no error... strange...

also note: using Apache 1.3.20 Win32

using proname -option -etc (where progname is any executable, such as PING) in PHP, you
can run a program and parse it's output with a PHP script

on Windows 9x, when the program isn't found (either a bad link or it just plain doesn't
exist), PHP crashes.

I can reproduce this error on Windows ME, kernel 4.9.3000 (the final release of win ME -- not a beta
or anything goofy like that)
