At least as far as Java is concerned, it's quite a limiting issue. The fact Java has no preprocessor directives sucks quite a lot in my opinion. However, I do not buy into the argument that PHP should have them, because in order to do it the right way, it's going to require a whole new pass of parsing. This is something you can afford with C, but cannot afford with PHP. Zeev
