But it does not. Where will the include directory show up? The generated
Makefile looks like this:
kk@boss ~/Source/php3 $ grep -i mysql Makefile
functions/msql.c functions/mysql.c \
LIBS = dbase/libdbf.a pcrelib/libpcre.a regex/libregex.a
-lmysqlclient -lpam -lm -ldl -lsocket -lnsl -lresolv
functions/php3_ldap.h functions/php3_mysql.h functions/php3_bcmath.h \
functions/mysql.o: functions/mysql.c config.h build-defs.h php.h php_version.h \
functions/php3_string.h functions/php3_mysql.h
As you can see, the mysql include directory is mentioned nowhere.
vi with ":set number" shows the INCLUDE definition as
40 INSTALL_IT = cp php $(bindir)
41 INCLUDE = -I$(srcdir) -I.
42 PROF_CFLAGS =

PHP3 CVS and the do-conf run updates "cvs update -d -P" before running
autoconf and configure as shown in my previous mail.
