It's more the reason of availability afaik. Most modern linux distributions offer openjade as easy to install package, so most people on linux are using openjade. The other way round, jade is supported by the build system on windows, openjade not. Openjade is available for win32 but I can't see a reason to support openjade on win32 as long as nobody could proof for better performance/quality..... Thats the main reason I can think of for the favour of jade in the howto. But feel free to add support for openjade on win32 if you would like to..;-) Friedhelm
