Hi! I have just pre-registered myself at linuxtag.org. [Though the PDF provided was not filled with my details I typed into the form, but that's another question.] An idea is popped up here to organize another semi-official phpdoc meeting. It cannot be really "official", as probably very few (if any) of the currently listed authors and editors will attend. It seems like Georg is organizing a hotel for us, where this meeting can be organized I guess. So the question is if there is any intention from you to be part of such a meeting? Who would be there? Which is the ideal datetime to organize this? Would it be better to put up a form with a calendar for everybody to register, add ideas and mark times OK for them or is the mailing list discussion OK? It would be nice to put up some guidelines for the meeting, much like we have done in 2002, and much like the PEAR guys done this spring. I think it would be good to talk about the following things (not restricting the meeting to theese topics, feel free to add more ;): - Crediting manual contributors - Getting from DSSSL to XSLT - Supporting 'exotic' languages [Hebrew, Arabic] - A user friendly translation / editing environment
    [note that Sandro Zic is also going to be there,
     who has great ideas, maybe even ready tools for
     us, and probably can attend our meeting too]
- Handling user notes [see also the current
    discussion on php-mirrors]
- Offline formats
     -> command line reference
     -> PDF
     -> various CHM versions
     -> self-hosted manual [see my RFC on this]
- Better manual browsing on sites
     -> customization ideas, possibilities
     -> any proposals for better search support?
- Integrating good stuff from other doc projects
     -> from php-gtk [eg. class documentation, note rating]
     -> from pear [eg. source code highlighting]
- Documentation of PECL extensions, how to move the
    stuff, should we move the stuff?
- The impact of PHP 5 on our docs. How to handle
    new docs, while much of the users will stay with PHP 4?
- Structuring the documentation
     -> come up with an intelligent solution for see
        also sections
     -> extension doc grouping solutions, what to do to
        make it work
     -> how to document function params, compatibility, etc.
- Speeding up builds
     -> have a quick solutions for translators to check their
        work (in connection with user friendly translations)
     -> build only what's translated
Seems like we have enough to talk about for a whole day. Maybe one day before Linuxtag, or one day after it? It's so easy to say for me, because I am a university student so I have plenty of free time then, I don't need to go to work no Monday. Note that our last meeting was a multiday event, and our agenda was similar in size. Goba
