No, you haven't misread it. PHP under Windows is a relatively young creature. You have basically two options: - Using PHP as a CGI. This is as reliable as PHP under UNIX, but results in a fairly serious performance hit. - Using PHP as a native module, most probably under IIS. This is a new feature of PHP 4.0, and when it matures it'll be fast and reliable, but currently, I don't consider it to be reliable enough. Your mileage may vary though, it may work fine. As for stability, no doubt you should not rely on PHP under Windows for a production server, unless the load is low enough for CGIs to properly handle it. Zeev Zeev, I've got to dive in here and ask why? :) We have been asked by a client to develop their site and they have a completely NT system there. They don't have a preference and, although I know Cold Fusion, I want to develop in PHP and use mySQL. Is PHP not "good enough" (gulp) for a production server under Windows or have I mis-read your comments (which could happen!) Thanks Ade
