The only 255 limit issues I've heard were actually with ODBC settings. It's been years since I've used ODBC, but apparently there is a setting or option you need to set in the ODBC driver to prevent truncating at 255 characters.

I saw somewhere that PHP can't do characters over 255 to SQL Server, is this true? If this is still true what about if you use the ODBC functions instead of the mssql functions.
