FWIW I am using PFE32 (Programmers File Editor) on Win32, and Kate on X. No
bells and whistles, just plain ASCII editing (Kate supports limited color
coding). Both support auto-indentation which I believe is _crucial_.
I had a look at PhpEd, and liked some of its features (e.g. the
IntelliSense mode) but disliked others even more, so I still stick with
plain Ascii editing...
What I have always open is a web browser pointed at
http://www.php.net/manual/en/ - an absolutely invaluable
resource. A lot
more worth than the best-of-editors...
