Hi Elspeth. The PHP-parser can be limited in a variety of ways to avoid security-breaches, so if You tried some piece of code successfully, it might not mean that everything You´d want it to do would work. Also, if You try it out, make sure You are in Your designated public_html-library as use may be restricted to this. The most common name-conventions of typical PHP-parsable files are [something].php or [something].php[3/4]. You may also want to execute the code through the webserver using a browser of you choosing as not everyone use a stand-alone binary of the PHP-parser, which if configured correctly, is parsable directly from a UNIX-shell. This pretty much a strategic implementation done by the SysAdm in charge of the server in question. It could be wise to send him/her a mail or call, and ask. ;-) Happy Hacking, Henrik J. > ---------- > From: Elspeth Finlayson - Sun UK - Engineering - Student > Intern[SMTP:Elspeth.Finlayson@uk.sun.com] > Reply To: Elspeth Finlayson - Sun UK - Engineering - Student Intern > Sent: den 5 september 2000 12:01 > To: php-general@lists.php.net > Subject: [PHP] confused > > Hi, > I'm a newbie to PHP and a bit confused.
