test it..
create a file called test.php and type there only this:
<?phpinfo()?>
upload it on the server and open the page in your browser,
if it does not have anything special in it (you'll notice if something
special happens, believe me...)
then try to rename the file in test.php3, if nothing means that the server
does not have PHP installed in it.
if so means you cannot use it at all, whatever you would write in PHP
wouldn't work...
It is easy to install PHP, but it has to be done by the owner
(administrator) of the server..
try to request it...
Good Luck
