In the online docs for using the upload functions (for PHP to accept file uploads) someone notes that you may need to increase max_execution_time in php3.ini (or in httpd.conf) for long file uploads. I am running 4.02.
Is this an issue? In an anecdotal test, it seems to not time out (as logically one would prefer, since an upload isn't exactly a script running amok). Whether or not an upload script will time out, it would seem a very useful feature to be able to set the max_execution_time on a per-page basis (rather than as a server configuration directive).
I'd rather not change my max_execution_time to something absurdly high simply so I can accept file uploads - which is quite a useful feature when you consider that you can do it through SSL, which isn't really possible with FTP as yet (I know about SSH, but a windoze SSH FTP client doesn't exist yet as far as I can tell).
Can anyone confirm that uploads will not time out in 4.0.2, and comment on the ability (or lack thereof ) in general to set this directive for a single script?
