Yes it will remain open. We're facing this problem right now with connections to MSSQL7. The Apache processes die (for a number of reasons), but the connections remain open 'sleeping' on the SQL7 side. At some point our connections fill up and we can't connect any more. There doesn't seem to be a way to kill the sleeping processes programmatically - we can either do it by hand from the console, or stop/start the server. MySQL has a variable you can set to close 'dead' connections after a certain amount of time - I think the default is 8 hours (!?!) Does Oracle have anything like that? You might want to set it to a couple minutes - any processes that die and leave an open connection should get taken care of this way then. Radu Filip wrote: > Hi!
