Sounds like I may have misread your problem - I read it as you were not
getting a response from the ini_set function. Are you saying that,
having apparently successfully changed the auto_append_file value, you are
still getting the old file (or none) appended?
Have you tried checking the return value of ini_set when you change the
append file?
