PHP and exec() on MS Windows

I am executing a server side VBscript from a PHP script by using
exec("path/script_name") and execution hangs. It never completes the
script. There is no output from the script, so I'm not sure why this is
so. The script runs fine from the command prompt. Wscript.exe (the
scripting host) is started, but the VBscript does not execute. The host
eventually times out. Does anyone have any suggestions?
