You can even use ssi for php files:
for example:
in index.shtml you include via ssi call index.php and it will add and
process it.
this is good when your .php files are not being default for some reasons
like when you use a remote server and you're not the ROOT,
or,
if you used to have the whole website on SSI includes and suddenly you jump
to PHP includes, you then need to use a php executable files (like .php
.html etc...) which are not .Shtml, and there might be some bookmarks to
.shtml files made by your visitors (this was once my case)
in other words: virtual() - is SSI, except that you don't necessary need to
set SSI in Apache.
Cheers!

If it's *only* HTML in that file, with no PHP in it(I think...i haven't
tried any perl scripts or ssi files; anyone know for sure? <g>) :
virtual("file.html");
This assumes that the file is in the same directory as the script that's
calling it. Otherwise:
virtual("/path/to/html-only/file.html");
virtual() works like ssi includes

Subject: [PHP] Problem with includes
I'm trying to create a site menu which include()s html files to create a
dynamic menu for each page. I have tried using a simple
include("file.html");
statement, but when I run the script, the following is printed into the HTML
doc:
Warning: Unable to access ../file.html in /directory/index.php on line 47
Followed by another error:
Warning: Failed opening '../file.html' for inclusion (include_path='') in
/directory/index.php on line 47
Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
