Hello:
I see that Java might be superior to PHP in terms of error-handling
capabilities. I really like the way errors can be handled in Java even when
you are calling multiple-objects from a single servlet. When an error gets
thrown, you can specify exactly how you want it to be handled. That kind of
thing is very useful in a financial application. You can code similar
things in PHP, but do they have the same sophistication as in Java?

I sincerely doubt robustness of Java , the only thing which puts Java above
PHP
IMHO is database connection pooling.

We are bidding for a commodities trading exchange which I have proposed to
build on PHP and
MySQL - yes MySQL!
As far as security is concerned it is more a question of how your server is
configured and who has access to it
Hope that helps
Anybody who has reservations on why PHP + MySQL should not be used for
online trading exchange is most welcome to comment
