The problem with working together is that developers get very tight with their code. People do not want to work together, and it is sad. I have been considering putting the app in a CSV tree when I get enough of the documentation and structure started. Still, I am undecided on which route I shall take. This project is a small step in a larger one, which I think will excite a lot of people. But I won't even comment on that until this project is near completion. Not to say anything derogatory about anyone else's work, because it is there work that has given us all ideas about what we truly want. The reason that I feel that I am qualified to do this is because I have been a Web Developer for six years, plus and application developer for over ten years. Most of the experience has been on a professional level. While here at work, I have downloaded multiple editors. I have used PHPEdit and PHPCoder, as well. This is the reason that I feel their needs to be one editor that is rock stable, easily accessible and most of all, has what the people want. That is why this message was posted. Seeing problems in some of them, I started writing code snippets to see how easily correctable these problems are. Having this collection of code has been my starting point. As I gather ideas from people, we will begin to build an outline of where we will go after that. Also, as far as the number of PHP Editors... Even looking on the lists of editors that exist, very few of them are PHP Specific. The number of editors is not really that high. And it is all about the people having a choice. There are literally dozens upon dozens of HTML editors out there, but people are always looking for something else to come along... Cheers, Joseph M. Every few months we see a new Windows PHP editor, or at least someone talking about doing one. I happen to use Ergin Soysal's PHPEdit, and I've also tried PHPCoder - both of which are competent products. Now we're going to get another. How about all you guys pooling resources and working together to make something really great - the definitive PHP IDE, and while you're at it, make it open source too. My 2c.
