Yeup it's system DSN, I've got one thing I just stumbled across that I am
waiting for my sysadmin to check and that is the php.ini file line
extension=php3_odbc.dll - apparently it is commented out by default, but
that is php3_odbc not php4 right?
As for Andrew's comments, the first way with the DSN, UID, PWD in one string
reteruns the invalid string or buffer length, the other two ways return the
Data Source not found error...

Is the datasource you are trying to use crated as a user or system DSN ? it
should be a system DSN in order for the web server (iusr_xxx) to find the
DSN.
