How about taking
onload="preloadImages();;setSubsection();"
and putting it into its own function? Like this:
function init(){
preloadImages()
setSubsection()
}
then changing your onload to onload="init()"
I didn't test this, but it seems like this might help. If it still doesn't
work let me know, and I'll try to help more.

Passwords are like underwear. You don't share them, you don't hang them on
your monitor, or under your keyboard, you don't email them, or put them on
a web site, and you must change them very often. --Seen in sig.
