Yeah it is also a good way:...
but what I do is I use the both phpmyadmin and dbtools.
with dbtools you can check the newly created database for accuracy right
after you converted it.
error ? delete mysql database, modify access file, import again ... and so
on..
when database becomes ok, I use phpmyadmin to play with it for a better
performance..
I also do it this way sometimes: I use a php file on the server and write
there queries, one after one ...
modifying so the entire database. this is because it takes some time to
convert and in actual access database are new entry and some data was maybe
modified already.
So by time I am ready I just make a copy of real access database convert it
and run my script which rewrites the whole database in split of a second and
brings it online.
this is way is much safer.
Cheers,
Maxim Maletsky.

Actually I exported the data into a "";"" text file and with the
help of
phpMyAdmin I imported it into MySQL. Was a litle tricky but I managed to get
it right... Thanks to all who replied...

be careful though about field names.
If while transforming an error occurs it won't stop. The only way to see
that will be only software's error log.
You should first make a copy of access file and check there carefully all
the field names. Then transform it into mySQL and play with column
properties. Who usually makes access databases has all the fields f...ed up.
So be aware: it is not like: click-a-button-and-it's-done, you'll have
restructure lot's of things over there.
But there's no easier way to do it. And DBtools is easy enough to use.
(sometimes it crashes, but still is OK)
This is what I am playing with whole this week.
Cheer,
Maxim Maletsky

DBTools is a windows program which can do just this, I have used it and it
works, you can find it here:

hope this helps,
