May god have mercy on your soul... When I attempted this same project, it brought me to my knees, not only was it ASP (which I never looked at before or since) it was poorly written. After long periods in the fetal position, I decided to not even look at the code, but instead to look at the way the site functioned and write from scratch in PHP to copy the functionality... but not the unreadable code. I ended up with a site which looked the same, worked faster, and was (*SHOCKER*) more stable. I would recommend the same strategy for you... look at the way the site works, and not the code.
