It's an age old question isn't it. I've managed to get ODBC going from
Linux to NT after a few problems.
The real problem is the lack of choice with providers. I heard Easysoft
OSS'ed their stuff but I havne't looked that hard on the Easysoft site.
Anyway, with my MS-SQL problem, I installed MS-SQL and all the normal
windows bits and bobs and just to be sure made certain I was able to
access the DB using Win32 PHP. If you now the SQL Server is happy, it
makes one less place to look when things go wrong. :)
Then I grabbed the Openlink stuff and installed it on the NT box and
the Linux box. I set up the request broker on the NT box then compiled
PHP with Openlink support, ran the broker on the PHP box and away we
went.
Sounds easy and it kinda is, but the key is to test is each step of the
way and read the dox! :)
When I puoll my finger out I'm supposed to be doing a tutorial on this.
If you need native MS-SQL support via Linux, this has been discussed ont
he list but contact me off-list if you want more info.
Cheers,
Graeme
