PHP4 and DCOM for Linux???

Hi, We have clients that need to be able to use the COM/DCOM support provided in PHP4. According to the PHP4 documentation is the COM/DCOM support only available when PHP is running on the Windows platform. The problem is that Windows NT/IIS4 sucks bigtime when it comes to stability and uptime and I would like to recommend using Apache instead. I know there is DCOM support for Linux but has anyone tried this with PHP4?? Is it possible??? I also would like to ask if the COM support is "Production Server" friendly? The documentation on the COM support is a little bit poor and it seems like the COM support is low prioritized.
