I agree with cutting off the PHP footers...no need to transmit them over
and over and over.
However, when I reply (which is not as often as I'd like...due mostly to
time constraints and the fact that the same questions get asked repeatedly
and I just get bored with them), I only post to the list. The reason is
because if someone bothered to ask in here, they can bother to find their
answers here. Of course, when things get too specific or OT, then it goes
private.
I once wrote out an answer on PHP-DB (my favorite hangout) and didn't send
it because I noticed when chopping off the PHP footers that the author said
at the tail end of his/her message that they weren't subscribed. I
thought...well, they're missing out! I have no time to be plunging through
>500 messages a day on the combined lists that I'm on (2 PHP, 6 ISP-LISTS,
a couple of vendor lists, etc.), but I do it anyway.
