Hi
GD library with Freetype is the way. I think support for ImageMagick is
dropped. You have 2 choices for the image format: PNG or JPEG.

I would like to get the community's thoughts on image manipulation tools.
I have a project I need to overlay some text over a graphic (similar to the
common tutorials -- building a graphic button dynamically).
The archives seem to mention to basic tools -- GD and ImageMagick. What are
the pros, cons, etc. of using the tool. I would like to get started on the
right foot with the proper tool. I am using PHP4.
Is FreeType still the basic ttf library in use?
In addition every tutorial I see uses GIF images, after seeing some recent
posts (and knowing the patent issues), I would also like to stay away from
them (I think), so how does this come into play?
