Yes - Apache's config files are the main reason why working on IIS always
feels like chopping my hands off. It's just so easy to do things like this
with Apache...
One thing I use this for frequently is keeping your database
username/password out of the webroot. Either set it in an include file or
use the config files to set environmental variables specific to that site.
Don't forget things like setting PHP's default mail from address for virtual
hosts, or custom PHP error log files either.
