Hi, David! You've been absolutely great in helping out. Thanks! I even
understand what you wrote above. I hope you don't mind if I also post your
reply to the mail list since your wisdom will help others, I'm sure.

Dave, again, you've been a life-saver! I shot your AddType suggestion to my
host server so that they can set me up. I'm so thoroughly impressed with
these guys that I know that they'll set me up right away. Please pardon a
blatant plug for www.hostway.com.
www.hostway.com is the most professional service I've ever had the pleasure
to work with. They're out of Chicago, IL, USA and respond within the
half-hour even on a lazy Sunday evening. For only $25 bucks a month, I have
more bandwidth and disk space than I'll EVER use and get PHP and MySQL with
a few other neat features like RealAudio in the bargain. Their online manual
and "control panel" for registered users is great. If anyone signs up or
switches to them, please tell 'em www.murphatnight.com sent you so that I
get some sort of credit.
ANYWAY... Does any of this help my daddy who won't switch to Hostway.com
because he's too set in his ways, the bastard? Probably not.
He still wants to advertise his neat site on other people's sites and when
they click on the link that he gives them, he want to know that "ID
#[something] sent ya!"
My dear father doesn't have PHP but I do. Can't he call a PHP script on my
server like he could a CGI script uploaded to a CGI-friendly site that would
set a cookie on the visitor that would follow him all over his own site?
Did that even make sense?
Yours,
Murph
