Nicole,
I suggest you look into a programming mythology called "Fusebox", not for
the programming part, but because they have solved these search engine
issues, without having to do create static pages, and with very little code
rewriting.
If you look into it, your looking for Search Engine Safe or Search Engine
Friendly functions. We've developed this in PHP, and there are a few sites
dedicated to Fusebox in PHP, although the methodology is mostly used with
Cold Fusion.
Basically, you change a link like this:
yourdomain.com/script.php?this=that&she=him
to
yourdomain.com/script.php/this/that/she/him.html
You simply have to add some code to handle this, then change you links to
the new format. That way you get the benefit you're looking for, without
all the trouble and disk space usage.
Hope that helps,
Peter Janett
