Hey all, After days of struggling with Scintilla and trying to get it talk to PHP-GTK on Linux and Mac OS X, I finally decided to give up and try getting GtkScintilla to build on Windows instead. To my pleasant surprise, this wasn't so tough. After mangling with MinGW for a while, I was able to churn out a DLL (two DLLs and one lib actually). Er, I still can't build PHP-GTK so I can't test this as of yet, but I'm sure Elizabeth or Steph will be able to do a proper build of GtkScintilla. Anyway, this means the Scintilla issue is more or less settled. Unless someone is willing to get Scintilla to work on *nix. I still think we should retain GtkScintilla since it has a more Gtk-ish API as compared to pure Scintilla and clearly a lot saner. If you want to check if the DLLs are any good, you can find them here: http://www.kix.in/php-gtk2/win32/ This leaves us with just the Win32 installer for the beta. I'm thinking June 7th is a good target for a release. Cheers, I do not understant this. There is two versions of scintilla for php-gtk, one fron Tom which is build direct from the scintilla on windows and the other you make which is based on GtkScintilla on Linux.
The version from tom(which works on windows) is not hard to make it work on linux, I did this some time ago(there is a message on the mailing list about this). I build the scintilla which creates a .a lib and add this to makefile by hand(I do not know about how to make this using the build system). But I do not have the files now :( The most important thing is have one of they working both on windows and linux. If we gonna use the version that uses the GtkScintilla we can at last replace the files from scintilla that it uses to the last scintilla? About the installer. Elizabeth done some work on it, currently it only install the php and the php-gtk, without any extension. We need only add the files for extensions and it´s dependencies. If Elisabeth can not work on it, I can, but I can not build the files(I do not have MSVC), so she must send all files for me. Important! I think that a release is a good thing to tell everyone that the project is under active work! Fernando Correa da Conceição
