I think that a pixmap always gets a transparent colour, whether you
put null or a value which will always force it to a greater colour
depth (this is just a guess at this stage).
the only function I found that calls this is in drag and drop code
which creates 2 'pixmaps' but using bitmaps and hard coded data bits.
gtk_drag_get_cursor() in gtkdnd.c
I just need to work out what format the data is in to transfer it
from a pixmap to a newly created bitmap.
