Andrei, rewriting from scratch only involves breakage in this particular
area if you want that to happen.
It's a difficult one, because it will kill a lot of old scripts dead - but
then again, it will make the new version prettier and easier to use.
I think we're all fairly together on the idea that PHP-GTK 2 is likely to be
more popular than PHP-GTK 1 ever was, for many reasons. The question is
about the amount of loyalty you need to have to the existing user base, and
about their interests - will they be ok to call this a whole new language
and learn the new ways, or are they all desperate for an easy upgrade?
I still think this question should go to the vote on php-gtk-general.
