Thanks Christoph, I'll give that a try as soon as I get back in front of my
Linux box and let you know how it works.

Subject: Re: [PHP-GTK] PHP-GTK / PIMG / PHP-imagick Installation Issues
Hi,
after installing php4-imagick a few minutes ago, I had the same error on
debian/unstable. It seems, php4-imagick was compiled against a
ImageMagick-version, wich is not in unstable actually (those
Knoppix-Packages are from unstable):
$ locate libMagick.so
/usr/lib/libMagick.so
/usr/lib/libMagick.so.0.0.0
/usr/lib/libMagick.so.0
$ apt-file search libMagick
[...]
libmagick5.5.7: usr/lib/libMagick.so.0
libmagick5.5.7: usr/lib/libMagick.so.0.0.0
(shit, I forgot my pizza in my oven...)
seems, that the dependencies of php4-imagick are not correct (somebody
should file a bug...)
Do this on your own risk, it's not tested by myself:
perhaps it will help (as long as the new packages with libMagick.so.6
aren't there) to link usr/lib/libMagick.so.0 to usr/lib/libMagick.so.6 -
BUT THIS COULD BE VERY BUGGY!!!

two borderless X windows. PHP-GTK looks like a good place to start for
someone more comfortable with PHP than C. PIMG also looks like it's worth a
look, but I can't manage to get the imagick.so extension to work. It looks
like the PHP -imagick Package was uses a different libmagick version. I'm
running 5.5.7.9-1.1, which seems to be the latest version.
