Well, I haven't come across a program written purely in PHP-Gtk that
can be "executed" as a binary as yet. However, I think it's pretty
reasonable to assume that a *nix PC will have PHP beforehand. PHPMole,
an IDE written in PHP-Gtk, uses this shell script to start itself:
#!/bin/sh
PHPMOLE="./phpmole-ide.php"
if test -e /bin/php
then
PHP="/bin/php"
fi
exec $PHP $PHPMOLE
The other Gtk programs, are of course written in C/C++, so there's no
problem; just use your makefile techniques to generate an executable.
Python makes it easy, py2exe is great. However, I think on *nix,
majority of pygtk programs also run interpreted. I think it's beacuse
people assume the presence of PHP/Python/Perl on a *nix system.
If you do come across some method of generating precompiled binaries;
please do let us know too!
Merry Christmas!
Cheers,
