Nathan -
The additional ',*' came from the testgtkrc file. My WinX rc file doesn't have it, but I thought I'd give it a try, just in case.
Doesn't seem to make a difference either way.
And my problem doesn't seem to be with the font setting itself. The first one loads just fine; it's the second one that it doesn't see.
I'm wondering if UX has a problem with the catch-all 'default' style, and if I have to break out into individual pieces - one style for GtkWindow, one style for GtkClist, etc. in order for the GtkEntry style to be seen?
thanks,
Madeleine D.

just as a first look perhaps i miss something but why did you end your font line with ,* ?? have you try just "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*" in place of "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" (same for the two font definition). regards, nathan 2006/2/6, Madeleine D. <mmdrake@bctonline.com>:I'm trying to convert our PHP-Gtk1 app onto Debian (working w/Ubuntu for the moment, but other distros will be in play). Having problems getting the RC to do what it does in WinX. Right now, I use a master RC file to set the font as a default and then load a second font setting for just entry widgets, since our older users like emphasis on their entry fields. Currently, looks like this: ________________________________________________ style "standard-default" {fg[ACTIVE] = { 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 }# more color settings here font = "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" } class "GtkWidget" style "standard-default" style "entry" { font = "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" } widget "*GtkEntry*" style "entry" _____________________________________________________- The above works just great on Winx, but so far no luck in Debian. I've tried matching the testgtkrc in the samples directory, changing the 'widget' to 'widget_class', and using 'fontset' instead of font. I can get the first default setting to load, but not the entry override. Does anybody have any ideas about what might work here? tia, Madeleine D. -- PHP-GTK General Mailing List (http://gtk.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
