Brian -
That's something I should have clarified; Ubuntu is Gnome, so that's where I'm at currently.
The user default gimp files appear to be pretty simple; mostly key-bindings. Right now, I don't see them having any impact on this problem.
thanks

Having problems getting the RC to do what it does in WinX. Right now, I use a master RC file to set the font as a default and then load a second font setting for just entry widgets, since our older users like emphasis on their entry fields.I had trouble with this too but didn't research why but one thing to keep in mind is the users home directory and the directories that are hidden via a dot in front of name. ie- the .gimp directory has a gtkrc file in it. Might be playing a role in this. also my testing was all done in kde, wonder if gnome would play nicer with gtkrc files?
