Nathan - Thanks for your help on this one. I finally tracked the problem down. While your file worked okay for me, the same kind of settings still would not work in my existing RC file. After some tweaking, it finally occured to me to used VI to edit the file - - - where I found hard returns (^M), probably added by a Windows edit sometime back, and of course, not visible in gedit. And of course, not a problem for our Win platform. Removed those, and the RC behaved as it should - loading both the default and the entry fonts. A lesson to anybody converting from WinX to UX... Yes! That's work for me and setting a different font for gtkentry work too using fontset. What i find weird is that font worked before and apparently don't work anymore :/ Here is a sample of my rc file that work for me: ########################################### # style "Entry" { fontset = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--24-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" bg[NORMAL] = "#D0D0D0" } class "GtkEntry" style "Entry" class "GtkText" style "Entry" # ########################################### ########################################### # style "Default" { fontset = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
   fg[NORMAL]      = "#333388"
   fg[PRELIGHT]    = "#6666BB"
   fg[ACTIVE]      = "#333388"
   fg[SELECTED]    = "#333388"
fg[INSENSITIVE] = "#A0A0F0"
   bg[NORMAL]      = "#ffffff"
   bg[PRELIGHT]    = "#ffffff"
   bg[ACTIVE]      = "#a6b5bf"
bg[INSENSITIVE] = "#ffffff"
   bg[SELECTED]    = "#a6b5bf"
   base[NORMAL]    = "#ffffff"
} class "GtkWidget" style "Default" hope it will work for you too... 2006/2/7, Madeleine D. <mmdrake@bctonline.com>:
Nathan - I applied your default to my RC file, and I needed to change 'font' to 'fontset' for it to work. May be related to gnome font settings, so it may or may not work for you. Madeleine D. Malk0 wrote: I set it like this in my rc file, at all i'm sure the file is loaded as i can see my window background and colors are all ok. I can change the font line in any way and absolutely nothings happen. Sure i've verified that the font i tryed to load are effectively present on my system. style "Default" { font = "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-*-*" fg[NORMAL] = "#333388" fg[PRELIGHT] = "#6666BB" fg[ACTIVE] = "#333388" fg[SELECTED] = "#333388" fg[INSENSITIVE] = "#A0A0F0" bg[NORMAL] = "#ffffff" bg[PRELIGHT] = "#ffffff" bg[ACTIVE] = "#a6b5bf" bg[INSENSITIVE] = "#ffffff" bg[SELECTED] = "#a6b5bf" base[NORMAL] = "#ffffff" } 2006/2/6, Madeleine D. <mmdrake@bctonline.com>: Nathan - I can set the default font okay. Are you setting yours via a default style or something else? Madeleine D. Malk0 wrote: I can't even set the default font on my box changing the line don't do anything :( for me, that's weird i'd no problem with that in the past. 2006/2/6, Madeleine D. <mmdrake@bctonline.com>: Nathan - The additional ',*' came from the testgtkrc file. My WinX rc file doesn't have it, but I thought I'd give it a try, just in case. Doesn't seem to make a difference either way. And my problem doesn't seem to be with the font setting itself. The first one loads just fine; it's the second one that it doesn't see. I'm wondering if UX has a problem with the catch-all 'default' style, and if I have to break out into individual pieces - one style for GtkWindow, one style for GtkClist, etc. in order for the GtkEntry style to be seen? thanks, Madeleine D. Malk0 wrote: just as a first look perhaps i miss something but why did you end your font line with ,* ?? have you try just "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*" in place of "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" (same for the two font definition). regards, nathan 2006/2/6, Madeleine D. <mmdrake@bctonline.com>: I'm trying to convert our PHP-Gtk1 app onto Debian (working w/Ubuntu for the moment, but other distros will be in play). Having problems getting the RC to do what it does in WinX. Right now, I use a master RC file to set the font as a default and then load a second font setting for just entry widgets, since our older users like emphasis on their entry fields. Currently, looks like this: ________________________________________________ style "standard-default" { fg[ACTIVE] = { 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 } # more color settings here font = "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" } class "GtkWidget" style "standard-default" style "entry" { font = "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-180-*-*-*-*-*-*,*" } widget "*GtkEntry*" style "entry" _____________________________________________________- The above works just great on Winx, but so far no luck in Debian. I've tried matching the testgtkrc in the samples directory, changing the 'widget' to 'widget_class', and using 'fontset' instead of font. I can get the first default setting to load, but not the entry override. Does anybody have any ideas about what might work here? tia, Madeleine D. -- PHP-GTK General Mailing List (http://gtk.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
