Hurm, it looks like it is trying to link against the pthread library, in which case those should be -lpthread and not -pthread. Another trick you can try is to set CXX to gcc. If you are using bash or sh for your shell do this: # CXX=gcc ./configure ... blah blah # CXX=gcc make install This will often clean up C++ related issues.
