Oliver,
Thanks for that...guess what, now apache won't load the modules!
I get
Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 224 of
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server:
libmysqlclient.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
so I though, change /etc/ld.so.conf to include /path/to/mysql/libs
then I got this
Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 224 of
/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: DL_UNLOAD
Have I done something stupid??
P.S. THanks very much for your response, I didn't have gd-devel- installed
Phil

Hi,
are you sur that gd is installed on this machine ? The problem is ld
can't
find gd libraries. Try this to see if it's installed:
'rpm -qa | grep gd'
you must have both gd and gd-devel installed, if nothing is listed install
gd
and retry to build PHP
If gd is installed you should provide full path to gd in your configure
command
line:
--with-gd=/full/path/to/gd/
bye
