HP-UX: DL_UNLOAD error

Hi! On HP-UX 11.0 (pl 6/00) I am unable to compile apache 1.3.14 and php 4.0.3pl1 . Using cc and aCC, I am always stuck at DL_UNLOAD being an undefined symbol. I searched a couple of threads on phpbuilder and found a dozend questions regarding this issue. The only posted solution I found, however, was to check for RTLD_NOW/LAZY which seems to not apply to my case. I'm a bit puzzled now since I guess -ldl would at least solve the compiler error but why is a dynaloader needed when php is built as a static module for a static apache? I would really appreaciate someone shedding some light on this!
