Hello I have got windows 98 and Apache server installed in my machine. The document root and is in the path C:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs I downloaded the distribution file and extracted its contents to c:\php3 which contains php.exe and many related files that came while extracting. In c:\php3\ there was php.ini-dist which i copied to c:\windows and renamed it as php3.ini and did the following modifications. 1. doc_root = "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/htdocs" 2.extension_dir = c:/php3/ 3.removed all the ; before extension statements(except for first line so as to comment it) In httpd.conf of apache the following lines were included at the end of the file ScriptAlias /php3/ "c:/php3/" AddType application/x-httpd-php3 .phtml Action application/x-httpd-php3 "/php3/php.exe" I am trying to run PHP as a module. with all these modifications i am not able to run PHP program. If i write a PHP program save with *.phtml extension in htdocs and if i open it from the browser only the page opens only decoding the HTML codes, but the code within the PHP limiters are not all decoded and they are not displayed on the browser. for example if the program is as follows <html> <head> <title>first php page</title> </head> <body> <? echo "first php page"; ?> HTML part </body> </html> Then if open this in the browser(apache server will be running and the program is saved in htdocs) the page with only "HTML part" comes but "first php page" does not come.when we view source in html page the same code as above programe is displayed. What must be the problem? Please tell the modifications to be done to both php3.ini and httpd.conf files in simple words taking the path i have given as an example. Please clear this doubt My e-mail id is: ravi.channegowda@wipro.com
