Hi, Lukas Kahwe Smith wrote:Hoi Marcus, Andrei, can you gives us a clarification on the question on if ctype will infact be deprecated in PHP6? regards, LukasThanks a lot for clarification! Unfortunately, cannot find any trace of decision making process either in the list or the weekly summaries. In fact, the only mention of ctype in summaries [1] lists it among the extensions that are ready for Unicode. That's a bit strange, since deprecating the extension that is currently enabled by default is a pretty major change. I think getting the relevant info out of Marcus and / or Andrei is in order... [1] http://devzone.zend.com/article/1520-Zend-Weekly-Summaries-Issue-315You are right, it was not in Paris. I ran a query on the wiki history and found it was added by Marcus Boerger in May 2006: http://oss.backendmedia.com/index.php?area=PHPTODO&page=PhP60&view=diff&to=2006-05-02+22%3A47%3A36&from=2006-05-02+14%3A10%3A53 Maybe the decision making process can be found inside the Zend weeklies or the internals mailinglist around that time frame.Your wiki (and your presentation) are the only two sources of this make-ctype-deprecated rumour I could ever find. The pages you link to from your wiki (including the Paris meeting minutes) do not mention ctype at all. So I'd still like to see a "core developer X states at [Y] that ctype will be deprecated".This was decided at the infamous paris PHP6 meeting and is still listed on the php todo list on my wiki. http://oss.backendmedia.com/PhP60Just FYI: ctype is scheduled to be deprecated in PHP6....As stated by core PHP developer X at [Y]?
